The NGCB Batch One (1) Team Building Program

Break Barriers & Build Bonds

“When I first joined NGCB, I attended this team building program, and my team called ourselves the Green Frogs because we were in the green house. To this day, I still call one of my colleagues “Green Frog”. That’s the kind of connection and memory you build here.” This was the sentiment expressed by Ms. Rosinah Wari the Director of Corporate Affairs at the National Gaming Control Board (NGCB), who shared a lighthearted memory from her own team-building experience back in 2017 to her colleagues.

The IBS Centre of Excellence (COE) had the pleasure of hosting the first group of staff from NGCB for an interactive three-day Team Building Level 1 Program from June 27 to 29, 2025 at Mt. Eriama, along Sogeri Road, Port Moresby.

Eighteen (18) participants took part in an immersive learning experience that focused on developing these core skills: communication & interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, leadership & motivation, problem solving & decision making.

During the presentation ceremony Ms. Wari encouraged the new members of NGCB who participated in the Team Building program.

“A good number of you are new staff of NGCB and it’s a good thing you took part in this program,” Ms. Wari said. “You learn to work with people in your team who you might not interact with at the office and that’s the beauty of team bonding.

“In an organization, you can’t operate as an island. You have to talk to people, collaborate, and have meetings. Coming here helps you break down those walls that sometimes make you hesitant to approach others, especially in management,” she added.

For the NGCB team, this program was a break from the office and it gave them the opportunity to build stronger relationships across departments and roles. During the three days when they worked together as a team outside their usual work environment, they had the chance to truly understand what it means to collaborate, share ideas, and support one another.
